Welcome to my personal website, and why, you may ask, is it called "Junerose Redhat". I was a Queen and Supporting Member of the Red Hat Society for six years, an organisation created 18 years or so ago in America for women over the age of 50 who like to meet up with other like-minded women and have fun.
In 2005, on holiday in America, I came upon a small shop which had "red hat brooches" for sale, and as my long-time Swedish friend enjoys hats of all types (whether ones you can wear or accessorise) I bought a brooch for her birthday, and asked the shop owner about the Red Hat Society. I relayed the details to my Swedish friend who, in no time flat, set up the first Chapter of the Society in Sweden (Rhapsody in Red), which still exists.
The following year she visited and suggested I set up a Chapter. Initially I didn't want the hassle and responsibility, so looked for the nearest one to me. Unfortunately there were not so many Chapters in the UK (now there are over 100) and my nearest one was over 100 miles away. So, in April 2006, the Fen Fatales was "born" out of the Lincolnshire Fens and I was Queen for five years. In that time, we did a lot - visiting stately homes, gardens, museums, enjoying the cinema and theatre, attending talks on various topics, learning to belly-dance, line-dance and play carpet bowls, being in the Spalding Festival Parade, meeting up with many other red hatters for Red Hat Day in April and lots more.
Fen Fatales still exists as a Chapter of the Red Hat Society, and if you want to know more about them CLICK HERE.
I have moved on to other interests since red hatting, and if you click on the Navigation Buttons at the top of this page, you will be able to see what they are.
