Just spent five days away in Ilfracombe. We booked a Shearings' Self Drive (something we hadn't done before) and found it very worthwhile. Half-board at a large Victorian hotel, with good service. Weather wasn't too bad, sunny and very windy, but it didn't stop us seeing such a lot. Walked down to the harbour in Ilfracombe, around the High Street shops, the Tunnel Beaches (Victorian bathing pools), as well as visiting Arlington Court, Westward Ho, Woolacombe and Mortehoe, and on the way home, Porlock and Dunster Castle. It's forty years since we last visited the area, little of which we could remember.
