PAST EVENTS
Wed 16th September 2020 - Forest Hills Golf Club
We were able to meet up for lunch at the local golf club, with everything very well organised to meet Government advice. It was a time to chat and bring everyone up to date with what we had been through over the intervening months. It was a lovely sunny day and we waited outside for everyone to arrive, before heading in for a lovely meal. Our only real restriction was that we could not all sit together, but that didn't stop the chatter.
Wed 24th June 2020 - Worrall Hill
Following current Government Guidelines, we were able to meet up (max of 6 people) outside and socially distancing. It was great to be able to meet again and each person brought their own cup and individual cake so that nothing had to be handled. We sat and chatted (till the cows came home!) and hopefully everyone enjoyed it. The weather was perfect, in fact too hot. Let's hope we can do it again sometime soon.
Tues 3rd March 2020 - The Rising Sun, Woolaston Common
Eleven of us enjoyed a good meal today, with lots of laughter and chatter accompanying it.
Tues 4th February 2020 - Forest Hills Golf Club, Coleford
A very good turnout for our first lunch of 2020 with 18 "girls" at the Golf Club. An excellent meal with excellent company. Four new members joined us today, and I hope they will continue to join us on as many future lunches as they are able.
Thursday 5th Dec 2019 - The Woodman, Parkend
Our Christmas Lunch (only 10 of us) but good food, a raffle and a quiz gave us plenty to chat about.
Thursday 7th Nov 2019 -The Miners, Sling
Twelve girls attended for a very good meal at The Miners, Sling, which we all enjoyed.
Friday 4th Oct 2019 - Trioscape, Newent
Again ten of us met for lunch and a wander round the garden centre/gift shop. Unfortunately due to two extensive sets of roadworks, I turned up late (much to everyone's delight) - albeit the only time in 8 years!
Wednesday 4th Sept 2019 - The Bakehouse, Longhope
Ten of us tried out a new venue today and were pleased with the food and service. A great place to also buy your supply of different breads, and of course you can watch it being made.
Thursday 1st Aug 2019 - The Ore Pool, Coleford
A really good turn-out this month with 16 girls and a great volume of chatter. The meals were excellent, as always and no doubt we will be back here again in the future.
Wednesday 3rd July 2019 - The Red Lion, Peterstow
Fourteen girls attended today and we had a very good meal. Desserts were plentiful as can be seen from the photos below.
Tuesday 4th June 2019 - Brockweir Village Shop
A good turn-out for a birthday lunch with lots to talk about (as usual), good food and good company. A lovely little village shop which sells unusual items as well as the basics, and produces good food. We started with an arrival drink of fruit juice or prosecco, a main and a surprise dessert which went down very well with everyone. I'd like to thank everyone who came for their cards and gifts - a birthday to remember!
Thursday 2nd May 2019 - The Kings Arms, Newent
Wednesday 3rd Apr 2019 - The Fountain, Parkend
We had a jolly good turnout this month with 16 of us at the Fountain, a venue we have been to before and thoroughly enjoyed.
Thursday 7th Mar 2019 - Kaplans, Coleford
A local lunch but a great chance to natter, so 12 of us turned up today.
Tuesday 5th Feb 2019 - Forest Hills Golf Club
Our first lunch of the year and 12 of us enjoyed the meal, with lots of chat and reminiscences of past lunches, and Christmas holidays.
Thursday 6th December 2018 - Millers Arms, Mathern
Today was the end of another year with our Christmas Lunch at the Millers Arms, a lovely country pub near Chepstow. Unfortunately although a low number (13) booked the lunch, on the day only 9 turned up, with little or no communication from the majority. Impolite to say the least! The food and company however were excellent, with a raffle (everyone got a prize) and a quiz (won by Elizabeth). For today's poem, click here.
Friday 9th November 2018 - Pizza Express, Monmouth
Unfortunately it would appear most of our "girls" would prefer good old English grub, so only six of us turned up to have a very nice Italian meal, and lots to talk about.
Friday 5th October 2018 - Dog & Muffler
Thursday 6th September 2018 - Hopewell Colliery
Fifteen girls came to lunch at Hopewell, enjoyed the meals and the chatter. A very popular place and excellent food and service.
Thursday 2nd August 2018 - Wilton Court Hotel
Wednesday 4th July 2018 - Dewstowe Gardens
Ten girls met at Dewstowe Gardens, watched a DVD showing the history and creation of the gardens, had a short wander before lunch al fresco and then a longer wander around the marvellous gardens. It was a very pleasant day out and the weather was kind to us. (Click on here for slide show of gardens).
Tuesday 5th June 2018 - Dog & Muffler
Only five of us at today's lunch, but it gave us all a chance to chat and make it a leisurely lunch.
Tuesday 1st May 2018 - Millers Arms, Mathern
Twelve girls' arrival was a bit of a "surprise" to the waiting staff, but we had an excellent meal and were made very welcome by the owner.
Thursday 8th March 2018 - The Colliers.
Thirteen of us (a coven) met for today's lunch and although the company was excellent and we had a lot to talk about, some of the meals were not. Unfortunately three meals were served cold so it did put a bit of a damper on things.
Wednesday 7th February 2018 - The Fern Ticket
A great turn-out (19) for this new venue, and everyone seemed to enjoy the quality and quantity of food.
Monday 8th January 2018 - Beechenhurst Cafe
Unfortunately only six of us visited Beechenhurst this morning, although we were able to catch up on Christmas and New Year happenings, and kept warm by the wood-burning fire whilst enjoying the food.
Thursday 7th December 2017 - The Royal Spring, Lydbrook
Eighteen girls enjoyed an extremely good Christmas Lunch, with lots of chatter, a raffle and a quiz. Thank you all for your continued support and I much appreciate your Christmas gifts.
Friday 3rd November 2017 - The Rising Sun, Woolaston Common
Fourteen of us had excellent meals on Friday, large portions meant the majority of us couldn't manage a dessert, but of course there are always the odd few who could!
Wednesday 4th October 2017 - The Royal Hotel, Ross on Wye
Thirteen (a witches' coven) at this very noisy but enjoyable lunch. The meals were very good and service excellent.
Tuesday 5th September 2017 - Watney Hall, Lydney
Sixteen girls turned up to Watney Hall and although there was plenty of chatter, the event was marred with disappointment throughout the meal for one reason or another.
Tuesday 1st August 2017 - Abbey Mill, Tintern
Eignteen girls came to the Abbey Mill for a very good three-course lunch. There was a lot of chatter and after lunch several wandered the craft shops or sat in the sun.

Eleven turned out for lunch today, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
Friday 9th June 2017 - The Nag's Head, Yorkley
A good turn-out today (20 of us) at a new venue, with lots of chatter and laughter. Food and service were excellent.
Tuesday 9th May 2017 - The Gatehouse, Monmouth
A very small group of us met at the Gatehouse, but the food was excellent and certainly not on the small side. Will certainly come here again.
Wednesday 5th April 2017 -The Woodman, Parkend
Thirteen (a witch's coven) girls met at the Woodman for a good meal, and lots of chatter.
Thursday 2nd March 2017 - Trioscape Garden Centre, Newent
Seventeen girls came to Trioscape today. We had a very good meal, excellent service, and enjoyed wandering round the garden centre after lunch with a little retail therapy thrown in.
Monday 6th February 2017 - Kaplans Bistro, Coleford
A return to the place it all started over four years ago. A good turn-out today (20 of us) and a very good meal, which I think everyone was satisfied with (once Kath got her strawberry sauce!).
Tuesday 10th January 2017 - The Globe Alvington
A new year and a new place. The chance to chat about our Christmas and New Year celebrations, and the venue and food were excellent. It's always very quiet in January and only ten girls turned up this month.

Tuesday 12 January 2016 - The Bell Hotel, Coleford
Friday 4 December 2015 - Wilton Court Hotel, Ross on Wye = Christmas Lunch
Fourteen of us enjoyed a very nice Christmas lunch, with lots of chatter, laughter and singing. The meal started off with "grace" which raised a titter or two; and a raffle won by Brenda. We then had a "Christmas quiz", the highest score being reached by Ann, followed by Sue, and to finalise we were led into several Christmas carols by three choristers.
I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and New Year, and to thank you for the voucher presented to me at the lunch, and for your support throughout the year. I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. To the right (courtesy of Pizza Express) are some suggestions for those who aren't too keen on sprouts!

Six girls met for our Christmas Lunch which was a very good meal in a pleasant venue. Lots of chat and getting to know one another a bit more. A pity there weren't more of us. The weather was awful, a thick frost that hasn't moved all day, and freezing fog, so once we had left the Golf Club, it was a pleasure to get back home in the warm.
